To members of the rules committee:

It's my strong opinion that the State Board of Education already has too  much power, especially since we have no control over who is appointed to the State Board.  Please do not give them control over all the curriculum.

The IMC, Instructional Materials commission, is an important educational safeguard.  Please leave it intact.

I am very concerned about the amount of data collected on children.  We have to honor privacy rights.

I am also concerned about the extreme use of technology in the classroom.  Human teachers cannot be adequately replaced with computer screens.  I'd like to see more hands on in music and arts and less on technology.  We are not raising robots, we are raising human beings.

Thank you,
Kathy Leatherwood
