Subject: Please pass HB 228 on education elections
Date: Mon Feb 24 02:48:17 MST 2014
Body:
Dear Representative,
I ask that you vote to pass HB 228 on education elections out of committee. I support this bill because right now if you want to run for a state school board position you put your name in with perhaps a dozen other people and then all get interviewed by the governor’s committee. The first question they ask you is “what do you think of Common Core.” If you say you don’t like it, you’re out of the race. This is exactly what happened during the last board race. There is no way to get representation on the state school board under the present system.
The current system is too easily corrupted.
Under a new system candidates can be screened more closely by the people- by the parties before they are accepted onto the ballot.
  Thank you!
Sincerely,
Suzzette Liu
