Dear House Education Committee members:

Please vote NO to politicizing school board candidate elections (Rep. Greene's HB 228).  Politicizing school board members would give political parties more control over schools and take away local control.

Please vote YES on HB 223 (Rep. Neilsen). HB 223 is a much better solution for the complex and convoluted nominating system that now exists for school board candidates.  The current system has removed the people's voice in state school board governance.

At the very least, HB236 (Rep. Powell) will eliminate some of the unethical situations which arise from having lobbyists serve on the school board.

As a former teacher and mother of 4 young boys, I am always concerned about education issues in our state.

Thank you for your time and service.

Sincerely,
Rachel Larson, M.Ed.
