Dear House Education Committee member,

Please do not pass HB 131 out of committee. As an adjunct professor at Utah Valley University, I am very much aware of the need for improved methods of education, but what I have observed in my students leads me to believe that increased surveillance and enforced dependence on mobile devices are not the way to do it. Please show your faith in the capacity of individual Americans to take initiative in touching children's lives on an individual level, without the imposition of technologies whose affordances for education over other methods frankly have yet to be thoroughly researched.
Thank you for listening, and thank you for your dedication in serving the people of this country.

Sincerely,
Sari Carter
