Subject: Support HB 81, 228, 302 and 342 PLEASE

Dear Education Committee,

The above HB's I'm supportive of for a variety of reasons, but mostly they support local control and parental control in education.  I'm a veteran High School teacher and have the unique point of view as a teacher.  Common Core hurts children, teachers and parents.  Please help stop Common Core.  Utah is full of talented teachers.  We don't want them leaving and having them replaced with Teach America...who ARE NOT TEACHERS...Common Core and the attached grading and valuing of teachers pay according to test scores is plain wrong and hurtful.  Teachers deserve more than this is offering.  If you truly want to change education, follow Sweden, not Asia.  I've lived in Japan and in Taiwan...I've seen High Stakes Testing up close.  I cringe to know that this is where we are heading.  I have children ranging from a Presidential Scholar Senior Athlete to a Pre-K....I cringe to know that my younger children have become experiments! I've heard it from Bill Gates himself!  Please listen to our voices..REPEAL COMMON CORE and STOP DATA COLLECTION....STOP STANDARDIZED TESTS...they show nothing!  They are worthless!  I know...I'm a teacher....THEY ARE WAISTING PRECIOUS TIME IN THE CLASSROOM!

Thanks,
Tami Hirsch
