S.R. 92; Improvements

Construction crews have opened the eastbound and westbound commuter lanes to the public with the exception of the first westbound entrance ramp at Highland Boulevard. Both commuter lanes will remain open throughout the remainder of the summer. Any work remaining on the commuter lanes will be completed at night with periodic closures only as needed. There will be intermittent shoulder closures both eastbound / westbound on mainline Timpanogos Highway as crews complete the remaining work on Timpanogos Highway mainline. This project will complete final tasks associated with the S.R. 92 improvements and assure the quality of the road.

S.R. 74; S.R. 92 to Alpine Roundabout

Crews are finalizing pavement replacement work on S.R. 74 from Timpanogos Highway to the roundabout in downtown Alpine. During construction, UDOT plans to keep one lane open in each direction to help maintain traffic flow at all times. Flaggers and construction signage will help guide traffic. Drivers should expect delays while lanes are shifted and shoulders are narrowed to accommodate work. Crews will complete pavement and striping by Aug. 29. Side streets and business accesses to S.R. 74 may be affected for up to 15 minutes immediately after striping is painted. All lanes will be open after Aug. 29 until mid-September, when lanes will be shifted again for final striping. Improvements will preserve the life of the road and provide a smoother drive.

I-15; Bridge Rehab; Lehi Main Street to 2100 North

UDOT is completing maintenance work on a series of I-15 bridges between Lehi Main Street and 2100 North, and crews have finished work in the northbound lanes. Southbound I-15 will be reduced to two lanes from Friday, Aug. 23, at 8 p.m. through Monday, Aug. 26, at 6 a.m., and heavy traffic delays of up to an hour are expected this weekend. Drivers should plan ahead and consider using alternate routes including U.S. 89 (State Street) and S.R. 68 (Redwood Road).

 

Construction will be suspended to accommodate heavy traffic during the Labor Day holiday and the BYU home football game on Saturday, Sept. 7. Work is scheduled to resume on Friday, Sept. 13. This project will provide a smoother ride for drivers and prolong the life of the roadway.

Signal at S.R. 68 (Redwood Road), 400 North Saratoga Springs

Crews are working to install the signal. No traffic impacts are expected. This project will improve traffic flow in the area and is expected to be complete by mid-August.

I-15/S.R. 145 Interchange; I-15 NB Off-Ramp to American Fork Main Street Reconfiguration

Crews are currently reconfiguring the northbound off-ramp at the I-15/S.R. 145 interchange.  Work is anticipated to be complete by Thursday, Aug. 29. The off-ramp will remain open at all times, but one lane will be closed intermittently to accommodate construction throughout the duration of the project. Once complete the new configuration will improve off-ramp traffic flow.

U.S. 89/State Street Improvements; Orem to Pleasant Grove

Construction continues on State Street between 100 East in Pleasant Grove and 1860 North in Orem. 300 East in Pleasant Grove continues to be closed at State Street while crews reconstruct the intersection and complete utility work. 500 North in Lindon is also now closed at State Street to accommodate the installation of a storm drain; the intersection is scheduled to be open early next week. Beginning Monday, Aug. 26, crews will be repaving the west side of State Street. Work is scheduled to start at 300 East in Pleasant Grove and move south into Lindon. Earthwork and grading are nearly complete on the west side of State Street and continue on the east side of State Street between 200 North and 700 North in Lindon. 

Utility relocation is also underway on the east side of State Street between Center Street and 200 North in Lindon. Crews are also installing new curb, gutter and sidewalk at various locations. The northbound lanes on State Street have been shifted west from approximately Center Street to 400 North in Lindon, and southbound State Street is restricted to two lanes near 600 North in Lindon. During overnight hours, drivers can expect lane restrictions as well as intermittent delays at intersections, where traffic will be controlled by UHP officers. This project will widen and repave State Street (U.S. Highway 89) between Orem and Pleasant Grove, with completion scheduled for this fall. The project will improve traffic flow and provide a smoother ride for drivers.

Orem 800 North Trail; 1000 East to Palisade Drive

Orem City plans to construct a 10-foot-wide trail along to 800 North from 1000 East to the mouth of Provo Canyon. The project is anticipated to begin late summer or fall 2013. Once construction is underway, intermittent lane closures will be in place in the north-westbound lane. This trail will complete the connection between the Murdock Canal Trail and the Provo Canyon Trail.

S.R. 114 (Center Street); 1600 West to I-15 Concrete Replacement

Crews are currently removing and replacing concrete sections to provide a smoother driving surface.  The project is anticipated to be complete in early September.  Eastbound traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction through Friday, Aug. 23 at 5:00 p.m. to accommodate concrete work. 
 
I-15/U.S. 189 Interchange; I-15 and University Avenue Interchange Ramp Resurfacing

On Saturday, Aug. 24, crews plan to begin resurfacing work on the southbound on- and off-ramps. Work will take place on weekends through Sept. 2. The southbound on- and off-ramp will be closed from 8 p.m. on August 24 to 6 a.m. on August 26.  The resurfacing will provide a smoother driving surface and extend the life of the pavement.

S.R. 114 (Center Street); 500 W to 900 W Resurfacing

On Sunday, Aug. 25, crews will resurface the westbound lanes of Center Street to provide a smoother driving surface.  The westbound lanes will be closed from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Aug. 22. Traffic will be detoured to 100 North. Final striping will be completed the following weekend.

Landscaping and installation of lighting will occur this week. Drivers should expect a northbound lane and shoulder closure. Pedestrians should use caution and stay out of the construction zone as the sidewalk will be closed this week. This project will provide a safer pedestrian route and include shoulder widening in some areas, construction of curb and gutter, a 10-foot multi-use trail, decorative lighting and a landscaped park strip.

I-15/S.R. 74 (1400 North) Interchange; Lane Reconfiguration and Resurfacing

UDOT construction crews have started to reconfigure and resurface the I-15 and S.R. 75 interchange. This work will include reconfiguring the northbound on-ramp, restriping existing lanes on S.R. 75 (reduce from eastbound S.R. 75 to northbound I-15 to one lane and increase from westbound S.R. 75 to northbound I-15 to two lanes), and resurface the on- and off-ramps.  Once complete this project will improve traffic flow and provide a smoother driving surface. All work between Aug. 22 and Aug. 29 will be contained within the shoulder and will not impact traffic.  From August 29 through mid-September, S.R. 75 traffic will be restricted to one lane from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. daily. This project will provide a smoother ride for motorists and prolong the life of the road.

This project will be suspended while the State Street Safety Improvements project finishes their work. Work on State Street will begin again after Labor Day. This will allow time for the State Street Safety Improvement Projects to finish. This project will replace the top layer of asphalt to provide a smooth travel surface and increase the life span of the road as well as upgrade ADA ramps, signal lights, and area signage.

I-15/S.R. 77 (400 South) Interchange; Lane Reconfiguration

UDOT construction crews are scheduled to reconfigure the I-15 and S.R. 77 Interchange beginning Thursday, Aug. 22. This work will include reconfiguration of the northbound on-ramp, restripe existing lanes on S.R. 77 (reduce eastbound S.R. 77 to northbound I-15 to one lane and increase westbound S.R. 77 to northbound I-15 to two lanes), and reconfiguration of the raised median on S.R. 77. Once complete the new configuration will improve traffic flow. Work taking place between Aug. 22 and Aug. 29 will be contained within the shoulder and will not impact traffic. One-lane closures will be in place daily from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. from Aug. 29 through mid-September.

I-15; South Payson Interchange to Spanish Fork River

Crews continue to work on the bridges at Utah Avenue, 400 North, and Payson Main through August. One-way lane configuration will remain in place until project completion with temporary traffic lights at each location. All lanes are anticipated to be opened by late fall. During the week of Sep. 10, construction crews will shift traffic between the Payson Main and Benjamin exits. Watch for changing lane configurations. Sound wall installation has begun in qualified areas along the eastern side of I-15. Installation is expected to be completed by late fall with minimal, if any, impacts to the public.

I-15 northbound and southbound are currently being reduced to one lane at night (10 p.m. to 6 a.m.) for paving activities. Closures will take place nightly, as needed, until late fall. All work is part of the overall I-15 widening project from the south Payson interchange to Spanish Fork River. The widening will improve traffic flow and help accommodate for future growth throughout the region.

2320 North and 2200 North are closed to traffic between 300 East and Canyon Road. 2200 North has reopened from 300 East to Timpview Drive. 300 East will remain open to traffic between 2320 North and 2200 North.

 

Construction is currently located on 900 East from about 1475 North to about Temple View Drive. Construction will proceed northward along 900 East. Traffic lanes are shifted to the east side of the road with one lane open in each direction. Construction on 2200 North is scheduled to resume after the 900 East section has been completed. 

 

This is part of a project dedicated to developing and distributing a portion of Utah's share of Colorado River water for use along the Wasatch Front.

U.S. 40 (Main Street) and 600 South, Heber City

UDOT will begin construction on the intersection at U.S. 40 (Main Street) and 600 South in Heber City in mid-August. The work will consist of removing and replacing an irrigation pipe culvert crossing U.S. 40 on the south side of the 600 South intersection. The work will impact the sides and pedestrian ramp areas of the southwest and southeast corner of the intersection. Crews expect to keep one lane open in each direction. New curb and gutter, sidewalks and pedestrian access to the road will be constructed. They anticipate the work taking several weeks. This project will improve pedestrian access in the area.

S.R. 32; Resurfacing Near Jordanelle

Resurfacing work is now complete along S.R. 32. Work to apply a roadway seal continues today. Beginning next week, crews are scheduled to be in the area to install concrete barriers, fencing, signs and apply striping. Crews will also be performing clean-up items through early September. Lane reductions and one-way flagging operations may be in place while work occurs. Motorists and bicyclists should plan for extra time while traveling through the area or find an alternate route. Work is scheduled to occur seven days a week during daytime hours. Crews are scheduled to return to the area early October to apply roadway striping. This project used a pavement rehabilitation process referred to as cold-in-place that recycles the current asphalt pavement on the roadway. The resurfacing project is scheduled to be complete October 2013 and will help prolong the life of the roadway.

Chip Seal: 2 Locations, Midway Center Street and U.S. 40

Chip-seal operations on S.R. 113 (Midway Center Street/Charleston Road) and along a 10-mile portion of U.S. 40 beginning near the U.S. 189/ Heber Main Street intersection through Daniels Canyon are now complete. Remaining work on the S.R. 113 bridge structure over the Provo River is anticipated to occur in the coming weeks. Intermittent one-way flagging operations will be in place and drivers can expect delays once work is underway. The project is scheduled to be complete fall 2013. This project will provide a smoother ride for drivers and prolong the life of the roadway.

Deer Creek Reservoir Walls

The design team continues to develop retaining wall solutions that will stabilize slopes in an area south of Deer Creek Island.

Work to design and construct support walls at various locations along U.S. 189, adjacent to Deer Creek Reservoir, is anticipated to begin at the end of August. Once construction is underway, one-way flagging operations will be in place to allow crews room to work and drivers can expect delays. This work will help repair and maintain the outside of the westbound lane shoulder that needs repair due to slope erosion.

Work to repair the slide area is complete. Road repair operations began on Aug. 5. During construction, one-way flagging operations will be in place. Work is scheduled to occur during daytime hours. Crews expect work to be completed by the end of September. This project will repair a slide area and the damaged roadway on U.S. 191.

UDOT is performing pavement markings on U.S. 191 from milepost 363 to 404, north of Vernal. Work is scheduled to take place during the day, between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. This is a moving operation, and drivers may be briefly delayed behind the paint crew as they stripe the road. The project is expected to continue next week, weather permitting, and is anticipated to be complete by the beginning of September. This work will improve safety for drivers on the road.

S.R. 35, S.R. 87 Bridge Rehabilitation, Two Locations

UDOT is scheduled to perform maintenance on bridges on S.R. 35 and S.R. 87. Construction is expected to take place in late summer. One-way flagging will occur in both locations, and a one-time 36-hour full closure of the S.R. 35 bridge over the Duchesne River is anticipated. Drivers should expect delays. This work will help maintain the bridge structures in the area.

U.S. 40; MP 111.32 to MP 113.86, Roosevelt

UDOT is repaving U.S. Highway 40 in Roosevelt from Pole Line Road/2000 South to State Street. Most work is being performed at night between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., with one lane remaining open in each direction during this time. Drivers should also anticipate some daytime work and intermittent lane restrictions. Crews are now placing a final layer of pavement, which will continue through the week. Construction is scheduled to be complete by the end of August. This project will provide a smoother ride for drivers and prolong the life of the roadway.

Highway 40 from MP 116.2 to MP 118.8 (Ballard) is undergoing a widening project to accommodate a center turn lane and widened shoulders east of Roosevelt.  During daytime hours (6 a.m. to 9 p.m.), travel lanes will be narrowed to 12 feet.  At night (9 p.m. to 6 a.m.), the contractor is allowed  alternating one-way traffic with a single 12-foot lane controlled with flagging operations.  Current impacts are minimal, as work is taking place out of the travel lanes.  Work is anticipated to be complete this fall. This project will increase safety and help prolong the life of the road.

S.R. 88; U.S. 40 to Ouray

UDOT is repaving a 17-mile stretch of S.R. 88 from U.S. 40 to Ouray during daylight hours (sunrise to sunset). Beginning Thursday, Aug. 22, crews began applying a chip-seal coating, and they will continue to install signs and make other safety improvements over the next week. Drivers should anticipate delays of up to 15 minutes to accommodate one-way flagging operations. This project will provide a smoother ride for drivers and prolong the life of the roadway.
