Heartland Institute’s 2013 Emerging Issues Forum Is Less than 3 Weeks Away!

A limited number of travel scholarships are available!

The Emerging Issues Forum (EIF) is an annual public policy conference for elected officials, policy experts, and Heartland’s allies and supporters from around the country. Last year’s event in Chicago (which also piggybacked on an NCSL meeting) drew nearly 150 people, including 75 state legislators from 35 states.

Our event takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Capital City Club in downtown Atlanta. Georgia Congressman Tom Price has been confirmed as our lunch speaker. You may know him as the former chairman of the Republican Study Committee; he currently serves as vice chairman of the House Committee on the Budget.

Heartland’s Emerging Issues Forums have become an important annual event for elected officials around the country. Prominent policy experts, including Heartland’s senior fellows, are featured in panel discussions addressing education, energy and environmental policy, health care, and taxes.

The Heartland Institute focuses on free-market solutions to social and economic problems. The goal of the EIF is to give lawmakers insight into problems they are facing and innovative free-market policy ideas that can help solve them. For example, implementation of Obamacare is a major concern for state legislators, as is responding to a huge debt crisis caused by a slow economy, reckless government spending, and a legacy of underfunding public employee pensions.

Part of what makes EIFs unique is the willingness of speakers and attendees to explore and discover new solutions, to listen and learn as elected officials and think tank experts share their own knowledge of facts and opportunities.

Admission to the Emerging Issues Forum is free for elected officials, spouses, and legislative staff. A limited number of travel scholarships are available for lawmakers who are members of Heartland’s Legislative Forum. Membership in the Legislative Forum is only $99 for two years and $179 for a lifetime membership – it pays for itself!

Space is extremely limited so register today for these great events!
