S.R. 92; Improvements

Construction crews have opened the eastbound and westbound commuter lanes to the public with the exception of the first westbound entrance ramp at Highland Boulevard. Both commuter lanes will remain open throughout the remainder of the summer. Any work remaining on the commuter lanes will be completed at night with periodic closures only as needed. There will be intermittent shoulder closures both eastbound / westbound on mainline Timpanogos Highway as crews complete the remaining work on Timpanogos Highway mainline. This project will complete final tasks associated with the S.R. 92 improvements and assure the quality of the road.

S.R. 74; S.R. 92 to Alpine Roundabout

Starting July 29, crews will work to upgrade pedestrian ramps and replace pavement on S.R. 74 from the intersection of S.R. 92 to the roundabout in downtown Alpine. The week of July 29 to Aug. 4, crews will begin work to upgrade pedestrian ramps. No lane closures are expected, but road shoulders will be narrowed. Roadwork will begin on Aug. 5, and drivers may experience minor delays as crews work to remove existing pavement. During construction, UDOT plans to keep one lane open in each direction to help maintain traffic flow. Bicyclists are encouraged to use alternate routes while work is performed in the bike lane and shoulder areas. Work on this project is expected to last approximately four weeks. Improvements will preserve the life of the road and provide a smoother drive.

2300 West between 1900 South I-15, Lehi

The intersection at Pointe Meadow Drive and 2300 West is now open to traffic. Crews continue to install the sidewalk along the northern segment of the project, from 2100 North to the railroad tracks. Crews are also working to complete the southern segment, from 300 North to 900 North. This segment of the road is expected to be open by mid-August. This is a new road project on 2300 West in Lehi built to improve connectivity in the area.

I-15; Bridge Rehab; Lehi Main Street to 2100 North

UDOT will complete maintenance work on a series of I-15 bridges between Lehi Main Street and 2100 North. Northbound I-15 is scheduled to be reduced to two lanes from Friday, July 26, at 8 p.m. through Monday, July 29, at 6 a.m., and heavy traffic delays of up to an hour are expected this weekend. Drivers should plan ahead and consider using alternate routes including U.S. 89 (State Street) and S.R. 68 (Redwood Road). Construction is scheduled each weekend for the next two months. This project will provide a smoother ride for drivers and prolong the life of the roadway.

Crews have put in a foundation to prepare for the installation of the signal. No traffic impacts are expected. This project will improve traffic flow in the area and is expected to be complete by the end of July.

U.S. 89/State Street Improvements; Orem to Pleasant Grove

Crews have begun construction on State Street between 100 East in Pleasant Grove and 1860 North in Orem. Initial work of roadway excavation, utility protection/relocation and traffic signal upgrades is underway. The northbound lanes on State Street have been shifted west from approximately Center Street to 400 North in Lindon, and southbound State Street is restricted to two lanes near 600 North in Lindon. During overnight hours, drivers can expect lane restrictions as well as intermittent delays at intersections, where traffic will be controlled by UHP officers. This project will widen and repave State Street (U.S. Highway 89) between Orem and Pleasant Grove, with completion scheduled for this fall. The project will improve traffic flow and provide a smoother ride for drivers.

Lindon Heritage Trail; Lindon 800 West to Utah Lake

Construction clean up and landscaping are scheduled to occur this week. There are no scheduled lane or road closures. This project will add a new length of trail to an existing trail system in Lindon and connect with a trail in Orem.

Orem 800 North Trail; 1000 East to Palisade Drive

Orem City plans to construct a 10-foot-wide trail along to 800 North from 1000 East to the mouth of Provo Canyon. The project is anticipated to begin late summer or fall 2013. Once construction is underway, intermittent lane closures will be in place in the north-westbound lane. This trail will complete the connection between the Murdock Canal Trail and the Provo Canyon Trail.

U.S. 89/State Street Safety Improvements, Phase 2

Utility relocations will continue this week. Drivers should expect a northbound lane and shoulder closure. Pedestrians should use caution and stay out of the construction zone as the sidewalk will be closed this week. This project will provide a safer pedestrian route and include shoulder widening in some areas, construction of curb and gutter, a 10-foot multi-use trail, decorative lighting and a landscaped park strip.
U.S. 89 (State Street/300 South) & 700 East, Provo Signal

Crews will rebuild this signal to improve traffic flow in the area.  This work will require the traffic signals to be offline on Sunday, August 4 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Highway patrol flaggers will direct traffic through the intersection. Work is anticipated to be complete in mid-July.

S.R. 75 Microsurface; Chip Seal on 1400 North and S.R. 198 in Payson

S.R. 75UDOT is resurfacing 1400 North in Springville. The area has been paved and striped. Work in the area is mostly complete. Crews will apply an additional layer of striping in late July.

S.R. 198: UDOT is resurfacing S.R. 198 between 400 North in Salem and Saddlebrook Drive in Payson. Traffic will be limited to two lanes, one lane in each direction, during construction. Accesses may be blocked for a short period of time while construction is taking place. Motorists should expect delays and consider an alternative route while construction is underway. All work will take place during the day.
 
Both of these projects are anticipated to be completed in early fall. The roadwork will provide a smoother ride for drivers and prolong the life of the roadway.
 
Additional work near S.R. 198

Crews began upgrading the pedestrian facilities at S.R. 178 (800 South) & S.R. 198 in Payson, and they anticipate to complete work by mid-July. This is a separate project from the microsurfacing. It will improve safety and traffic flow in the area.

Pavement grinding will occur this week from 1200 South in Provo to 1400 North in Springville. This work will require lane closures, but one lane will always remain open in each direction. Work in the northbound lanes will take place between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. Work in the southbound lanes will take place between 5:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. This project will replace the top layer of asphalt to provide a smooth travel surface and increase the life span of the road as well as upgrade ADA ramps, signal lights, and area signage.

I-15; South Payson Interchange to Spanish Fork River

Crews will continue to work on the bridges at Utah Avenue, 400 North, and Payson Main through August. One-way lane configuration will remain in place until project completion with temporary traffic lights at each location. All lanes are anticipated to be opened by late fall. Sound wall installation will begin July 25 in qualified areas along the eastern side of I-15. Installation is expected to be completed by late fall with minimal, if any, impacts to the public. 

I-15 northbound and southbound are currently being reduced to one lane at night (10 p.m. to 6 a.m.) for paving activities. Closures will take place nightly, as needed, until late fall. All work is part of the overall I-15 widening project from the south Payson interchange to Spanish Fork River. The widening will improve traffic flow and help accommodate for future growth throughout region.
Permit, Maintenance and Other Area Projects
Reach 2 Pipeline; Spanish Fork/Provo Reservoir Canal

2200 North is open. Construction is currently located on 900 East from about 1475 North to about Temple View Drive. Construction will proceed northward along 900 East. Traffic lanes are shifted to the east side of the road with one lane open in each direction. Construction on 2200 North is scheduled to resume after the 900 East section has been completed. At the beginning of July, 2230 North will be closed to all traffic and is expected to reopen by mid-September.

 

All lanes on University Avenue are open to usual traffic, as final paving and re-striping are now complete.

 

This is part of a project dedicated to developing and distributing a portion of Utah's share of Colorado River water for use along the Wasatch Front. 

Maintenance projects

Crews will be conducting various surface maintenance projects in the area. Each of these projects will help preserve the life of the roads. 

U.S. 6: Crews will seal pavement work on August 8 at mileposts 136-139. Traffic will be reduced to one lane, and a pilot car will guide traffic through the construction zone. Delays up to 15 minutes can be expected.

S.R. 68: Crews conducted pavement work on July 10 at milepost 8. Crews will return to mileposts 0-5 on August 7 to seal the pavement work.  Traffic will be reduced to one lane, and a pilot car will guide traffic through the construction zone. Delays up to 15 minutes can be expected.

S.R. 147: Crews are expected to conduct pavement work on August 5-6 at mileposts 8-12 and 0-3. Traffic will be reduced to one lane, and a pilot car will guide traffic through the construction zone. Delays up to 15 minutes can be expected.

Crews will return on August 12-14 to complete the projects on of these roads.

I-15; NB Auxiliary Lane Santaquin Hill

A new lane has been constructed for approximately two miles on I-15 south of Santaquin from about milepost 239 to the South Santaquin interchange (exit 242). Construction has been completed this week, and all three northbound lanes will remain open. Completion of the new lane will improve safety and traffic flow.

S.R. 32; Resurfacing Near Jordanelle

Resurfacing work is now underway along S.R. 32. Resurfacing operations are scheduled to occur during nighttime and daytime hours from 12 a.m. (midnight) to 12 p.m. (noon) through the end of the week. The week of July 29, crews are scheduled to begin soft spot repairs and apply an asphalt overlay. Lane reductions and one-way flagging operations will be in place while work occurs. Motorists and bicyclists should plan for extra time while traveling through the area or find an alternate route. This project is using a pavement rehabilitation process referred to as cold-in-place that recycles the current asphalt pavement on the roadway. The resurfacing project is scheduled to be complete October 2013 and will help prolong the life of the roadway.

Chip Seal: 2 Locations, Midway Center Street and U.S. 40

Chip-seal operations on S.R. 113 (Midway Center Street/Charleston Road) and along a 10-mile portion of U.S. 40 beginning near the U.S. 189/ Heber Main Street intersection through Daniels Canyon are now complete. The remaining striping operations along U.S. 40 are anticipated to occur at the end of the week or early next week. Lane shifting and lane restrictions may occur while crews stripe the roadway. Remaining work to apply the final layer of asphalt and sealant on the S.R. 113 bridge structure over the Provo River is anticipated to continue the week of July 29. One-way flagging operations will be in place and drivers can expect delays. The project is scheduled to be complete early August 2013. This project will provide a smoother ride for drivers and prolong the life of the roadway.

Deer Creek Reservoir Walls

The design team continues to develop retaining wall solutions that will stabilize slopes in an area south of Deer Creek Island.

Work to design and construct support walls at various locations along U.S. 189, adjacent to Deer Creek Reservoir, is anticipated to begin mid-August 2013. Once construction is underway, one-way flagging operations will be in place to allow crews room to work and drivers can expect delays. This work will help repair and maintain the outside of the westbound lane shoulder that needs repair due to slope erosion.

County Line Resurfacing Project

Work to repair the slide area is complete. Road repair operations are anticipated to begin in August 2013. Once work to repair the roadway in underway, one-way flagging operations will be in place. Work is scheduled to occur during daytime hours. This project will repair a slide area and the damaged roadway on U.S. 191.

S.R. 35, S.R. 87 Bridge Rehabilitation; Two Locations, F-209 and F-369

UDOT is scheduled to perform maintenance on bridges on S.R. 35 and S.R. 87. Construction is expected to take place in late summer. One-way flagging will occur in both locations, and a one-time 36-hour full closure of the S.R. 35 bridge over the Duchesne River is anticipated. Drivers should expect delays. This work will help maintain the bridge structures in the area.

U.S. 40; MP 111.32 to MP 113.86, Roosevelt

UDOT is repaving U.S. 40 in Roosevelt from Pole Line Road/2000 South to State Street. Most work will be performed at night between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., with one lane remaining open in each direction during this time. Drivers should also anticipate some daytime work and intermittent lane restrictions. Curb and gutter improvements have been completed on the south side of U.S. 40 and will continue on the north side of the road over the next week. Drainage improvements will be made during nighttime hours on Sunday, July 27, through Tuesday, July 30, with a pipe crossing near the cemetery. Construction began on July 15 and will continue through September. This project will provide a smoother ride for drivers and prolong the life of the roadway.

U.S. 40; Duchesne East City Limits to MP 97.700

U.S. 40; MP 116.2 to MP 118.8, Ballard

Highway 40 from MP 116.2 to MP 118.8 (Ballard) is undergoing a widening project to accommodate a center turn lane and widened shoulders east of Roosevelt. During daytime hours (6 a.m. to 9 p.m.), travel lanes will be narrowed to 12 feet. At night (9 p.m. to 6 a.m.), the contractor is allowed  alternating one-way traffic with a single 12-foot lane controlled with flagging operations. Work is anticipated to be complete this fall. This project will increase safety and help prolong the life of the road.

S.R. 88; U.S. 40 to Ouray

Crews are currently repaving a 17-mile stretch of S.R. 88 from U.S. 40 to Ouray during daylight hours (sunrise to sunset). Crews have completed paving work from the U.S. 40 junction down to about two miles from the White River Bridge in Ouray, the south project limits. Drivers should anticipate delays of up to 20 minutes to accommodate one-way flagging operations. Following the paving, crews will improve the shoulders, apply a chip seal coating and make various other safety improvements. This project will provide a smoother ride for drivers and prolong the life of the roadway.
