Nevada's legislators and staff look forward to sharing ideas, innovations and progress with our Western friends and neighbors as we meet in substantive public policy and professional development sessions.

North America Summit V

Tuesday, July 30th, 11 am-5 pm   

 

This year's North America Summit program will provide a continuing opportunity for Western policy makers to discuss critical issues in the larger continental context of Canada, Mexico and the United States. Among the topics are infrastructure and market access. Dynamic speakers confirmed are Honorable Gary Doer, Ambassador of Canada to the United States and Dr. Robert Pastor, Director of the Center for North American Studies at American University. He is the author of The North America Idea which will be available for sale onsite.

Downtown Redevelopment 
Years of efforts to revitalize downtown Las Vegas have had a dramatic effect on the city's urban core, particularly over the past few years. This tour will highlight the city of Las Vegas Redevelopment Agency's work and revitalization of the area's true center of community, culture and commerce-located just a few miles north of the world-famous Las Vegas Strip. Within the last year alone, the redevelopment statistics for downtown Las Vegas were impressive by any city's standards and include thousands of jobs generated, hundreds of millions in investments and the completion of over 57 private and public projects including three major museums, the $453 million Smith Center for the Performing Arts, a new City Hall and scores of new business innovations and opportunities. 

 

Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area
red rock Located in the Mojave Desert about 15 miles west of Las Vegas, the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area offers majestic views of extensive red rock formations, sandstone cliffs, limestone mountains and open desert.
 

The mission of CSG-WEST is to facilitate regional, nonpartisan cooperation and exchange of information, and to strengthen legislative institutions among our 13 member states. These services are achieved through a variety of programs and services offered to legislators and their staff, including the convening of policy forums, professional development training, international relations opportunities, publications and institutional links with other political entities in the West.  

  

CSG-WEST serves the Western legislatures of Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. Associate members include the Canadian provinces of Alberta and British Columbia and the Pacific islands of American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands and Guam.
