             6      AN ACT RELATING TO PUBLIC SAFETY, DIVISION OF WILDLIFE RESOURCES, AND
             7      APPROPRIATIONS; APPROPRIATING $2,100,000 FOR FISCAL YEAR 1999-2000 TO THE
             8      DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY AND $360,000 FOR FISCAL YEAR 1999-2000 TO THE
             9      DIVISION OF WILDLIFE RESOURCES BE USED TOWARD ACHIEVING PARITY OF
             10      SALARIES FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS IN THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC
             11      SAFETY AND DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES; AND PROVIDING AN
             12      EFFECTIVE DATE.
             13      This act enacts uncodified material.
             14      Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
             15          Section 1. Appropriation.
             16          (1) Except as provided in H.B. 4, Appropriations Coordination Act, there is appropriated
             17      from the General Fund $2,100,000 to the Department of Public Safety and $360,000 to the
             18      Department of Natural Resources for fiscal year 1999-2000.
             19          (2) It is the intent of the Legislature that these appropriations shall be solely used to adjust
             20      salaries for law enforcement officers, classified in Section 53-13-103 of the Department of Public
             21      Safety and Section 63-34-6 of the Department of Natural Resources, in an attempt to provide salary
             22      parity with law enforcement officers employed by the cities and counties of the state.
             23          Section 2. Effective date.
             24          This act takes effect on July 1, 1999.
