AN ACT RELATING TO APPROPRIATIONS; APPROPRIATING $258,000 FROM THE
GENERAL FUND FOR FISCAL YEAR 1999-2000 TO THE UTAH ARTS COUNCIL IN THE
DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT FOR RENOVATION
OF THE CHASE HOME MUSEUM OF UTAH FOLK ART; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
This act enacts uncodified material.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
Section 1. Intent.
The Legislature finds that because the 145 year-old Brigham Young - Issac Chase Home
in Liberty Park houses the State Folk Art Collection and plays a significant role in Utah's cultural

from the General Fund for fiscal year 1999-2000, $258,000 to the Utah Arts Council in the

(2) The Utah Arts Council shall use the appropriated funds to:
(a) match other funds donated for the purpose of completing the exterior renovation of the
home, with the appropriated funds paying for no more than 1/3 of the total renovation costs; and
(b) secure a 20-year lease to ensure a permanent public home for the State Folk Art
Collection.
(3) Any unused funds shall be returned to the General Fund.

This act takes effect on July 1, 1999.
