                  AN ACT RELATING TO APPROPRIATIONS; APPROPRIATING $100,000 FROM THE
                  GENERAL FUND FOR FISCAL YEAR 2000-01 TO THE DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE
                  AND FOOD FOR DISTRIBUTION TO SOIL CONSERVATION DISTRICTS; AND
                  PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
                  This act enacts uncodified material.
                  Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
                      Section 1. Appropriation.
                      (1) There is appropriated $100,000 from the General Fund for fiscal year 2000-01 to the
                  Department of Agriculture and Food for distribution to soil conservation districts organized under
                  Title 17A, Chapter 3, Part 8, Soil Conservation Districts, for:
                      (a) developing conservation plans for farmers and ranchers to keep the state's farmland
                  productive and rivers and lakes clean; and
                      (b) technical assistance for projects funded through the Agriculture Resource Development
                  Loan program and the Nonpoint Source Pollution program.
                      (2) The money appropriated in Subsection (1) may be used to pay for office space,
                  equipment, and expenses of soil conservation district personnel that previously had been provided
                  by the United States Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service.
                      Section 2. Effective date.
                      This act takes effect on July 1, 2000.
