6 AN ACT RELATING TO PUBLIC EDUCATION; DESIGNATING THE STATE'S APPLIED
7 TECHNOLOGY CENTERS TO INCLUDE THE SOUTHEASTERN UTAH APPLIED
8 TECHNOLOGY CENTER; PROVIDING FUNDING FOR THE CENTER; AND PROVIDING
9 AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
10 This act affects sections of Utah Code Annotated 1953 as follows:
11 AMENDS:
12 53A-15-202.5, as enacted by Chapter 35, Laws of Utah 1999
13 This act enacts uncodified material.
14 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
15 Section 1. Section 53A-15-202.5 is amended to read:
16 53A-15-202.5. Applied technology centers.
17 The following applied technology centers are established to assist in providing applied
18 technology education in an efficient and cost-effective manner throughout the state:
19 (1) Bridgerland Applied Technology Center;
20 (2) Davis Applied Technology Center;
21 (3) Ogden-Weber Applied Technology Center;
22 (4) Wasatch Front South Applied Technology Center; [
23 (5) Uintah Basin Applied Technology Center[
24 (6) Southeastern Utah Applied Technology Center.
25 Section 2. Legislative Intent.
26 (1) It is the intent of the Legislature that for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2000, the
27 current funding for the Southeast Applied Technology Service Region to public and higher
28 education be consolidated as a public education appropriation to fund the Southeastern Utah
29 Applied Technology Center.
30 (2) It is the intent of the Legislature that for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2000, and for
31 each fiscal year thereafter, the Legislature shall provide a line item under public education in the
32 Appropriations Act to fund the Southeastern Utah Applied Technology Center.
33 Section 3. Effective date.
34 This act takes effect on July 1, 2000.
