Mr. President:

    The Business, Labor, and Economic Development Committee reports a favorable recommendation on S.B. 53, LICENSING SECURITY OFFICERS, by Senator D. Steele, with the following amendments:
1.    Page 4, Line 100:    After Line 100 insert:
        "(d)(i) "Private security officer" does not include an unarmed person hired by a proprietary business to provide services to protect the security of property under Subsection (12)(a)(i) or (ii) for:
        (A) a period of time not exceeding 30 days of any 90-day period; and
        (B) 20 or fewer hours per week during the employment period under Subsection (12)(d)(i)(A) above.
        (ii) The exemption under this Subsection (12)(d) is not available to persons who qualify for an exemption under the terms of Section 58-63-311.
