             6      This act modifies the Medical Examiner Act. The act modifies the duties of the medical
             7      examiner during a period around the 2002 Olympic Winter Games. The act is repealed on
             8      April 1, 2002.
             9      This act affects sections of Utah Code Annotated 1953 as follows:
             10      ENACTS:
             11          26-4-7.1, Utah Code Annotated 1953
             12          63-55b-126, Utah Code Annotated 1953
             13      Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
             14          Section 1. Section 26-4-7.1 is enacted to read:
             15          26-4-7.1. Medical examiner jurisdiction over highway accidents during Olympics.
             16          Notwithstanding Section 26-4-7 , between January 25, 2002 and April 1, 2002, the Olympic
             17      law enforcement commander, appointed under Section 53-12-301 , or the commander's designee,
             18      may request that the medical examiner assume custody of a deceased body if it appears that death
             19      was caused by a highway accident.
             20          Section 2. Section 63-55b-126 is enacted to read:
             21          63-55b-126. Repeal dates -- Title 26.
             22          Section 26-4-7.1 is repealed April 1, 2002.
