             6      This Senate rules resolution amends Senate rules to require a two-thirds vote for suspending
             7      rules. This resolution provides an effective date.
             8      This resolution affects legislative rules as follows:
             9      AMENDS:
             10          SR-34.01
             11      Be it resolved by the Senate of the state of Utah:
             12          Section 1. SR-34.01 is amended to read:
             13           SR-34.01. Adoption, Amendment, and Suspension of Senate Rules.
             14          (1) These Senate rules shall be initially adopted at the beginning of each legislative
             15      session by a constitutional two-thirds vote.
             16          (2) Except as provided in this subsection, after the initial adoption of these rules,
             17      additional rules may be adopted or existing rules may be [suspended,] amended[,] or repealed by
             18      a majority vote, except the following, which require a two-thirds vote to adopt, [suspend,] amend,
             19      or repeal:
             20          (a) rules governing the lifting of a tabled bill from committee; and
             21          (b) rules governing voting as in SR-30.06.
             22          (3) Existing rules may be suspended by a constitutional two-thirds vote.
             23          Section 2. Effective date.
             24          This resolution takes effect upon approval by a constitutional majority vote of all members
             25      of the Senate.
