Mr. President:

    The Business, Labor, and Economic Development Committee reports a favorable recommendation on S.B. 157, VEHICLE SAFETY INSPECTION AMENDMENTS, by Senator D.C. Buttars, et al, with the following amendments:

1.    Page 1, Line 10:        After "fees." insert " This act takes effect on January 1, 2002."

2.    Page 4, Lines 102-103:        Reinstate "frequency of the" reinstate "shall be determined based on the age of the vehicle determined by model year and shall be required" and delete "is required every year following the"

3.    Page 4, Lines 104-105:        Delete all of lines 104 through 105 and insert "each year for a vehicle two or more years old."

4.    Page 6, Line 154:        After line 154 insert
                "Section 4. Effective Date.
                This act takes effect on January 1, 2002."
