18 General Description:
19 This bill amends the Health Promotion and Risk Reduction chapter of the Health Code.
20 Highlighted Provisions:
21 This bill:
22 . directs the Department of Health to establish a public awareness campaign to
23 educate parents, healthcare providers, and women H. [
24 about the causes and risks of cervical cancer and the prevention of cervical cancer.

35 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
36 Section 1. Section 26-7-3 is enacted to read:
37 26-7-3. Cervical cancer public awareness campaign.
38 S. (1) .S The department shall create a public awareness campaign to educate parents, health
39 care providers, and women H. [
39a and risk factors
40 associated with cervical cancer and the prevention of cervical cancer.
40a S. (2) The public awareness campaign required by Subsection (1) shall include:
40b (a) information about abstinence before and fidelity after marriage being the surest
40c prevention of sexually transmitted diseases including the human papillomavirus; and
40d (b) a complete list of side effects and risks discovered during drug trials of any vaccine
40e developed for the prevention of cervical cancer or human pappillomavirus.

42 As an ongoing appropriation subject to future budget constraints, there is appropriated
43 from the General Fund for fiscal year 2007-08, $25,000 to the Department of Health for
44 establishing the campaign described in Section 26-7-3 .
