8 General Description:
9 This bill modifies the requirements of schools relating to transfer students' records.
10 Highlighted Provisions:
11 This bill:
12 . requires a school that has been requested to forward a copy of a transferring
13 student's record to the new school to comply within 30 school days of the request;
14 and
15 . makes technical corrections.

24 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
25 Section 1. Section 53A-11-504 is amended to read:
26 53A-11-504. Requirement of school record for transfer of student -- Procedures.
27 (1) Within 14 days after enrolling a transfer student, a school shall request, directly
28 from the student's previous school, a certified copy of his record.
29 [(2) The requesting school shall exercise due diligence in obtaining that record.]

30 [(3)] (2) Any school requested to forward a copy of a transferring student's record to
31 the new school shall comply within 30 school days of the request unless the record has been
32 flagged pursuant to Section 53A-11-502 , in which case the copy [shall] may not be forwarded
33 and the requested school shall notify the division of the request.
