8 LONG TITLE
9 General Description:
10 This bill provides for and funds a higher education engineering partnership.
11 Highlighted Provisions:
12 This bill:
13 . provides for an engineering partnership between Weber State University and Utah
14 State University to meet the demand for electrical engineers in the state, including
15 the demand at Hill Air Force Base; and
16 . appropriates funds to be used for the engineering partnership.
17 Monies Appropriated in this Bill:
18 This bill appropriates:
19 . as an ongoing appropriation subject to future budget constraints:
20 . H. [ $375,000 ] $305,600 .H from the Education Fund for fiscal year 2007-08 to
20a Weber State
21 University; and
22 . H. [ $497,400 ] $405,200 .H from the Education Fund for fiscal year 2007-08 to
22a Utah State
23 University; and
24 . for fiscal year 2007-08 only:
25 . H. [ $100,000 ] $100,200 .H from the Education Fund to Weber State University; and
26 . H. [ $765,000 ] $765,200 .H from the Education Fund to Utah State University.

This bill takes effect on July 1, 2007.

33 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
34 Section 1. Section 53B-18-1101 is enacted to read:
35 Part 11. Higher Education Engineering Partnership
36 53B-18-1101. Higher Education Engineering Partnership.
37 (1) Utah State University and Weber State University shall enter into a partnership
38 agreement to jointly deliver a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering to meet the demand
39 for electrical engineers in the state, including the demand at Hill Air force Base.
40 (2) The partnership agreement may provide for:
41 (a) a satellite location for the Utah State University electrical engineering program on a
42 Weber State University campus, including the Davis campus; and
43 (b) a curriculum using courses from:
44 (i) Weber State University's electrical engineering technology and general education
45 programs; and
46 (ii) Utah State University's electrical engineering bachelor's degree program and other
47 related programs.
48 Section 2. Appropriations.
49 (1) As an ongoing appropriation subject to future budget constraints, there is
50 appropriated from the Education Fund for fiscal year 2007-08, H. [ $872,400 ] $710,800 .H
50a for the following:
51 (a) to Utah State University, H. [ $497,400 ] $405,200 .H for the higher education
51a engineering partnership
52 under Section 53B-18-1101 at the Weber State University Davis Campus; and
53 (b) to Weber State University, H. [ $375,000 ] $305,600 .H for the higher education
53a engineering
54 partnership under Section 53B-18-1101 at the Weber State University Davis Campus.
55 (2) There is appropriated from the Education Fund for fiscal year 2007-08 only,
56 H. [ $865,000 ] $865,400 .H for the following:
57 (a) to Utah State University, H. [ $765,000 ] $765,200 .H for the higher education
57a engineering partnership
58 under Section 53B-18-1101 at the Weber State University Davis Campus; and
