H.B. 470    Traffic Light Enforcement (Rep. J. Seelig)

Rep. Seelig introduced the bill with the assistance of Mr. Carleton Christensen, City Council, Salt Lake City. (handout)

MOTION:    Rep. Seelig moved to refer the bill to Interim Session for further study. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Lockhart, Rep. Morley, and Rep. Ray absent for the vote.

2nd Substitute H.B. 437    Limitation on Government Benefits to Aliens Unlawfully Present in the United States (Rep. C. Herrod)

Rep. Herrod introduced the bill.

MOTION:    Rep. Wimmer moved to amend the bill as follows:



1.    Page 3, Line 78 :    

             78          (i) the exceptions listed in 8 U.S.C. Sec. 1621(b);
{   or   }


2.    Page 3, Line 80 :    

             80      periods described in Subsections 53B-8-106 (1)(c) and (5)
{   .   }        ; or

    (iii) compensation to be received by an employee, worker, or operative under Chapter 2, Workers' Compensation Act, or Chapter 3, Utah Occupational Disease Act, of Title 34A, Utah Labor Code.  



The motion to amend passed unanimously with Rep. Ray and Rep. Seelig absent for the vote.

MOTION:    Rep. Litvack moved to further amend the bill by deleting Section 53B-8-106, and modifying related references on lines 24 and 80.

The motion failed with Rep. Morley, Rep. Ray, Rep. Sumsion, Rep. Wimmer and Rep. Oda voting in opposition. Rep. Lockhart was absent for the vote.

MOTION:    Rep. Wiley moved to proceed to the next item on the agenda.

SUBSTITUTE
MOTION:    Rep.Wimmer moved to pass the bill out favorably as amended. The motion passed with Rep. Bowman, Rep. Litvack, Rep. Seelig, and Rep. Wiley voting in opposition.

H.J.R. 15    Resolution Urging Attorneys General to Defend the Prohibition of Overly Violent Video Games to Minors (Rep. S. Wyatt)

Rep. Wyatt explained the resolution.

Rep. Ray moved to pass the resolution out favorably. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Litvack absent for the vote.

MOTION:    Rep. Oda moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Litvack and Rep. Lockhart absent for the vote.

MOTION:    Rep. moved to place S.J.R. 8 on the Consent Calendar. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Lockhart absent for the vote.

H.B. 453    Amendments to Driving Under the Influence Provisions

This bill was not heard.

MOTION:    Rep. Wiley moved to approve the minutes of February 16, 2007. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Lockhart absent for the vote.
