9 General Description:
10 This bill prohibits the sale of certain types of dishwashing detergent.
11 Highlighted Provisions:
12 This bill:
13 . prohibits the sale of a household dishwashing detergent that contains 0.5 % or more
14 phosphorus by weight.

23 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
24 Section 1. Section 19-5-124 is enacted to read:
25 19-5-124. Phosphorus limit for household dishwashing detergent.
26 (1) As used in this section, "household dishwashing detergent" means a substance
27 used:

28 (a) to clean an item commonly used for preparing food, eating, or drinking; and
29 (b) by an individual for a personal, family, or household purpose.
30 (2) Except as provided by Subsection (3), a person may not sell a household
31 dishwashing detergent that contains 0.5 % or more phosphorus by weight on or after H. [ :
32 (a) July 1, 2009, in a county of the first or second class; and
33 (b) July 1, 2011, in any county in the state. ] July 1, 2010. .H
34 (3) This section does not apply to a dishwashing detergent designed and used for a
35 commercial or industrial purpose.
