9 General Description:
10 This concurrent resolution of the Legislature and the Governor designates "Love Your
11 Library Week" in the state of Utah.
12 Highlighted Provisions:
13 This resolution:
14 . designates H. [ April 13 through 19, 2008 ] one week in April .H as "Love Your
14a Library Week" in the state of
15 Utah, to coincide with National Library Week.

19 Be it resolved by the Legislature of the state of Utah, the Governor concurring therein:
20 WHEREAS, Utah libraries are cornerstones of the communities they serve;
21 WHEREAS, access to books, ideas, resources, and information in Utah's libraries is
22 imperative for education, employment, enjoyment, and self government;
23 WHEREAS, Utah libraries are a legacy to each generation, offering the heritage of the
24 past and the promise of the future;
25 WHEREAS, Utah libraries connect people and ideas by providing information through
26 books, magazines, DVDs, videos, books on tape, community programs, and many other
27 resources;

28 WHEREAS, Utah libraries celebrate and preserve our democratic society by making
29 available the widest possible range of viewpoints, opinions, and ideas so that all individuals
30 have the opportunity to become lifelong learners who are informed, literate, educated, and
31 culturally enriched; and
32 WHEREAS, Utah libraries contribute to a future that values and protects freedoms in a
33 world that celebrates both similarities and differences and respects individuals and their beliefs:
34 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of the state of Utah, the
35 Governor concurring therein, designate H. [ April 13 through 19, 2008 ] one week in April .H
35a as "Love Your Library
36 Week" in the state of Utah, to coincide with National Library Week.
37 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be sent to the Utah
38 Division of State Libraries.
