General Description:

This bill appropriates $19.7 million dollars for design and construction of a Veterans'

Nursing Home in Ogden.

Highlighted Provisions:

This bill:

. appropriates $19.7 million dollars for design and construction of a Veterans' Nursing

Home in Ogden;

. expresses legislative intent to not fund design or construction of any future veterans'

nursing homes until the state is reimbursed by the federal government for its share of

the cost of the Ogden Veterans' Nursing Home; and
44
. repeals an authorization to issue a general obligation bond to partially fund
45
construction of a Veterans' Nursing Home in Ogden.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:

Section 2. Repealer.

This bill repeals:

Section 63B-14-101, Capital facilities bonds -- Maximum amount -- Projects

authorized.

Section 3. Appropriation.

(1) For fiscal year 2008-09 only, there is appropriated $19,700,000 from the General
73
Fund to the Division of Facilities Construction and Management to design and construct a
74
Veterans' Nursing Home in Ogden, Utah.

(2) It is the intent of the Legislature that the Legislature will not appropriate or provide
76
any additional monies for the design or construction of any additional Veterans' Nursing Homes
77
in Utah until the state has received full payment from the federal government for the federal
78
government's share of the costs of design and construction of the Ogden Veterans' Nursing
79
Home.
