8 LONG TITLE
9 General Description:
10 This bill addresses the construction of a type II assisted living facility.
11 Highlighted Provisions:
12 This bill:
13 . allows a type II assisted living facility to be a two-story, wood-frame building under
14 certain conditions; and
15 . requires the Department of Health to make rules concerning certain aspects of
16 construction of a type II assisted living facility.

25 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
26 Section 1. Section 26-21-24 is enacted to read:
27 26-21-24. Construction of type II assisted living facility.

28 (1) Notwithstanding the provisions of any building code adopted under Title 58,
29 Chapter 56, Utah Uniform Building Standards Act, a type II assisted living facility may be a
30 two-story, wood-frame building if:
31 (a) an automatic fire sprinkler system is installed for the entire building; and
32 (b) the building is otherwise in compliance with any applicable building code.
33 (2) The department shall make rules concerning egress from any secure areas of a
34 two-story type II assisted living facility.
