Mr. Speaker:

    The Education Committee recommends H.B. 363, PUBLIC EDUCATION - ARTS ENHANCED LEARNING PROGRAM, by Representative G. Hughes, be replaced and reports a favorable recommendation on 1st Sub. H.B. 363, BEVERLEY TAYLOR SORENSON ELEMENTARY ARTS LEARNING PROGRAM with the following amendments:

1.    Page 1, Lines 17 through 18 :    

             17          .    requires the State Board of Education to:
             18              .    establish a grant program for school and school district arts

  specialists and       coordinators; and


2.    Page 2, Lines 49 through 52 :    

             49          (a) establish a grant program to allow school districts and charter schools to hire 100
             50      highly qualified, full-time arts
{   coordinators   }        specialists       to be based at 100 schools;

             51          (b) provide up to $10,000 in one-time funds for each school arts
{   coordinator   }        specialist       described

             52      under Subsection (3)(a) to purchase supplies and equipment;
