Sen. Buttars called the meeting to order at 8:06 a.m.

Approval of Minutes

     MOTION: Sen. Christensen moved to approve minutes from February 19, 2009 meeting.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sens. Hinkins, Jones, Bell and Robles absent for the vote.

1.    SB0217, Drug Amendments (P. Knudson)

    Sen. Knudson introduced the bill and explained the amendment adopted in the February 19, 2009 meeting.

    Mr. Stenbridge spoke for the bill. Mr. Hartley spoke to the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Christensen moved to pass S.B. 217, Drug Amendments, as amended, out of committee with a favorable recommendation.


    The motion passed unanimously with Sens. Robles, Hinkins, and Bell absent for the vote.

2.    HB0265, Postmortem Procedures Amendments (B. Daw)

    Rep. Daw introduced the bill.

    Ms. Racehorse-Robles, Ms. Richardson, and Ms. Mitchell spoke for the bill.

    MOTION: Sen. Robles moved to pass H.B. 265, Postmortem Procedures Amendments, out of committee with a favorable recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously.

3.    HB0239, Utah Medical Examiner Act-Investigation and Autopsies Amendments ( C. Oda)

    Rep. Oda introduced the bill.

    Mr. Horton spoke for the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Jones moved to pass H.B. 239, Utah Medical Examiner Act-Investigation and Autopsies Amendments, out of committee with a favorable recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously.

     MOTION: Sen. Hinkins moved to place H.B. 239, Utah Medical Examiner Act- Investigation and Autopsies Amendments, on the consent calendar.

    The motion passed unanimously.

4.    HB0042, Adoption Revisions (S. Allen)
    
    Rep. Allen introduced the bill.

    Mr. Jenkins spoke for the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Jones moved to pass H.B. 42, Adoption Revisions, out of committee with a favorable recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously.

5.    HB0289, Background Checks for Qualifying Entities (S. Sandstrom)

    Rep. Sandstrom introduced the bill.


     MOTION: Sen. Christensen moved to pass H.B. 289, Background Checks for Qualifying Entities, out of committee with a favorable recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously.

     MOTION: Sen. Hinkins moved to place H.B. 289, Background Checks for Qualifying Entities, on the consent calendar.

    The motion passed unanimously.

    MOTION: Sen. Christensen moved to adjourn.

    The motion passed unanimously.

    Sen. Buttars adjourned the meeting at 9:08 a.m.
