Rep. Fowlke called the meeting to order at 4:26 p.m.

MOTION:    Rep. Bird moved to approve the minutes of the March 1, 2010 meeting. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Allen, Rep. Gibson, Rep. Grover, Rep. Hutchings and Rep. McIff absent for the vote.


H.B. 373    Renewal of Judgment Act Amendments (Rep. G. Froerer)

Rep. Froerer explained the bill to the committee with the assistance of Kirk Cullimore, attorney.

Spoke in favor of the bill:    Butch Johnson, attorney.

MOTION:    Rep. King moved to hold the bill with the recommendation that the bill be referred to interim study. The motion passed with Rep. Gibson, Rep. Grover, Rep. Hutchings, Rep. Powell and Rep. Fowlke voting in opposition to the motion and with Rep. McIff absent for the vote.


H.B. 429    Newspaper Publication Requirements (Rep. J. Anderson)

Rep. Anderson explained the bill to the committee with the assistance of Boyd Petersen, publisher of The Valley Journals.




Spoke in favor of the bill:    Zach Fountain, Murray City Mayor's Office.
            Kathie Johnson, South Jordan City Council.
            Paul Pugmire, President, South Jordan Chamber of Commerce.

MOTION:    Rep. Hutchings moved to pass H.B. 429 with a favorable recommendation.

SUBSTITUTE
MOTION:
    Rep. Johnson moved to amend H.B. 429 as follows:

1.    Page 2, Lines 37 through 38 :    

             37          (ii) be distributed for at least the previous 12 months to at least
{   55%   }        75%       of the residents for

             38      which the notice is intended
  , all of which are verifiable       .


The motion failed with Rep. Johnson and Rep. King voting in favor of the motion and with Rep. McIff absent for the vote.

The original motion to pass H.B. 427 with a favorable recommendation passed with Rep. Allen, Rep. Johnson and Rep. Powell voting in opposition to the motion and with Rep. McIff absent for the vote.

2nd Sub. S.B. 274    Online Pharmacy Amendments (Sen. C. Bramble) (Rep. )

Sen. Bramble explained the bill to the committee.

MOTION:    Rep. Gibson moved to pass 2nd Sub. S.B. 274 with a favorable recommendation. The motion passed unanimously.


MOTION:    Representative Allen moved to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously.

Rep. Fowlke adjourned the meeting at 5:33 p.m.
