Rep. Mathis called the meeting to order at 8:10 a.m.

MOTION:    Rep. Noel moved to approve the minutes of the January 29, 2010 and February 2, 2010 meetings. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Dee, Rep. Draxler, Rep. Painter, Rep. Watkins and Rep. Wright absent for the vote.


H.B. 228    Renewable Energy Source Amendments (Rep. R. Barrus)

Rep. Barrus explained the bill to the committee.

Spoke in opposition to the bill:    Kathy Van Dame, Policy Coordinator, Wasatch Clean Air Coalition, who provided a handout to the committee.



MOTION:    Rep. Wilcox moved to pass the bill with a favorable recommendation. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Dee, Rep. Draxler, Rep. Painter, and Rep. Watkins absent for the vote.


H.J.R. 12    Climate Change Joint Resolution (Rep. K. Gibson)

Rep. Gibson distributed a handout and explained the bill to the committee, assisted by Randy Parker, Utah Farm Bureau Federation, who distributed handouts to the committee and provided a power point presentation.

MOTION:    Rep. Noel moved to pass the bill with a favorable recommendation. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Riesen voting in opposition to the bill and Rep. Dee, Rep. Painter, and Rep. Watkins absent for the vote.


H.B. 108    Meat Inspection Amendments (Rep. J. Mathis)

Rep. Mathis explained the bill to the committee, assisted by Terry Menlove, Utah Department of
Agriculture/Animal Health.

MOTION:    Rep. Hendrickson moved to pass the bill with a favorable recommendation. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Dee, Rep. Brown, Rep. Gowans, Rep. Painter, Rep. Riesen and Rep. Watkins, absent for the vote.

MOTION:     Rep. Hendrickson moved to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously.
