Senator J. Stuart Adams proposes the following amendments:

1.    Page 1, Lines 16 through 17 :    

             16      federal health care reform unless the
{   Legislature approves the implementation in

             17      statute after receiving a report regarding  
}
  the agency reports to the Legislature       :


2.    Page 1, Lines 21 through 23 :    

             21      provision;
{   and   }

             22              .    impact to the citizens of the state if reform efforts are implemented or not
             23      implemented
  ; and

    .    prohibits an individual in this state from being required to purchase health insurance  
.

    Senate 2nd Reading Amendments
    3-3-2010 :
    

             76i          (e) creates new insurance coverage mandates;
{   and   }        or      

             76j          (f) creates a new government run, public insurance program. .H
 

    (4) (a) A resident of this state may not be required to obtain or maintain health insurance as defined in Section 31A-1-301, regardless of whether the individual has or is eligible for health insurance coverage under any policy or program provided by or through the individual's employer or a plan sponsored by the state or federal government.
    (b) The provisions of this title may not be used to hold a resident of this state liable for any penalty, assessment, fee, or fine as a result of the individual's failure to procure or obtain health insurance coverage.
    (c)This section does not apply to an individual who voluntarily applies for coverage under a state administered program pursuant to Title XIX or Title XXI of the Social Security Act.
