CONCURRENT RESOLUTION HONORING PROVIDERS OF
2 HEALTH CARE SERVICES TO MILITARY PERSONNEL
3 AND THEIR DEPENDENTS

9 LONG TITLE
10 General Description:
11 This concurrent resolution of the Legislature and the Governor expresses gratitude to
12 the hospitals, clinics, facilities, and individual providers of health care to Utah's military
13 personnel, their families, and those retired from military service.
14 Highlighted Provisions:
15 This resolution:
16 . expresses gratitude to the hospitals, clinics, facilities, institutions, and individual
17 providers of health care who serve the needs of Utah's military personnel, their
18 families, and those retired from military service; and
19 . recognizes these health care providers for being part of the fight for freedom as they
20 serve the health care needs of this population.
21 Special Clauses:
22 None

24 Be it resolved by the Legislature of the state of Utah, the Governor concurring therein:
25 WHEREAS, health care coverage for Utah's military personnel and their families is
26 provided by TRICARE network providers and the Hill Air Force Base Clinic;
27 WHEREAS, TRICARE contracts with local health care providers to meet the health

28 needs of military personnel, their families, and those retired from military service;
29 WHEREAS, Utah's population of military personnel, their families, and those retired
30 from service that are eligible to benefit from this health care coverage exceeds 69,650;
31 WHEREAS, the total Utah network facilities, institutions, and providers of health care
32 to this population exceeds 4,400;
33 WHEREAS, these local network health care providers are not required by law to enter
34 into contracts to serve the needs of this specific population, but willingly take care of Airmen,
35 Soldiers, Sailors and Marines, Coast Guardsmen, National Guardsmen, Air National
36 Guardsmen, members of the Service Reserve Components, their families, and the retired
37 service men and women who serve or have served this great nation;
38 WHEREAS, these hospitals, clinics, facilities, and individual healthcare providers face
39 administrative and financial challenges as they work with the various public and private health
40 insurance providers;
41 WHEREAS, participation by network providers throughout Utah is key and essential to
42 the readiness and ability of the servicemen and women of Utah to defend our nation;
43 WHEREAS, the contribution of these network providers to Utah's military personnel,
44 their families, and the retired military community is a critical force multiplier to existing
45 military medical treatment facilities, including the Hill Air Force Base Clinic;
46 WHEREAS, knowing that they will get the highest quality care when they most need it
47 means a great deal to Utah's military service members; and
48 WHEREAS, knowing that they and their families will get the highest quality health care
49 when they most need it improves military readiness and allows Utah's military service
50 members to focus on the critical tasks of training and preparing here in Utah, of defending
51 freedom while deployed throughout the world, and of reconstituting once redeployed home to
52 Utah:
53 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of the state of Utah, the
54 Governor concurring therein, express deep gratitude to the more than 4,400 hospitals, clinics,
55 facilities, and individual network providers of health care who serve the health care needs of
56 Utah's military personnel, their families, and those retired from military service.
57 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature and the Governor recognize these
58 health care providers for being part of the fight for freedom as they serve the health care needs

59 of this population.
60 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be sent to TRICARE,
61 Major General Andrew E. Busch, USAF, Commander, Ogden Air Logistics Center, and Major
62 General Brian L. Tarbet, Utah National Guard, Adjutant General, and to the members of Utah's
63 congressional delegation.
