Chair Buttars called the meeting to order at 3:15 p.m.

1.    SB0033 - Health Disparities and Related American Indian Programs (K. Van Tassell)

    Sen. Van Tassell presented the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Robles moved to pass S.B. 33 out of committee with a favorable recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Christensen absent for the vote.

     MOTION: Sen. Jones moved to place S.B. 33 on the consent calendar.

    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Christensen absent for the vote.

2.    SCR001 - Crisis Intervention Team Program Concurrent Resolution (P. Jones)


     MOTION: Sen. Robles moved to amend the bill as follows:

1.    Page 1, Lines 14 through 16 :    

             14          This resolution:
             15          .    recognizes the Crisis Intervention Team
{   Training   } Program        training       as the model of best

             16      practice for law enforcement intervention with persons who have a mental illness;

2.    Page 3, Lines 76 through 77 :    

             76          WHEREAS, Utah CIT law enforcement officers are provided with effective skills to
             77      interact with persons in psychiatric crisis and to assist with
{   escalating   }        de-escalating       volatile situations;


    The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Christensen absent for the vote.

    Sen. Jones presented the bill as amended..

    Ms. Wittwer, Mr. Bruno, and Mr. Hatch spoke in favor of the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Robles moved to pass S.C.R. 1, as amended, out of committee with a favorable recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously.

     MOTION: Sen Robles moved to recommend that S.C.R. 1 be placed on the consent calendar.

    The motion passed unanimously.

3.    SJR003 - Adult Immunization Awareness Day Joint Resolution (K. Mayne)

    Sen. Jones presented the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Jones moved to recommend that S.J.R. 3 be replaced with First Substitute S.J.R. 3, "Adult Immunization Awareness Month Joint Resolution."

    The motion passed unanimously.

    Sen. Jones presented 1st Substitute S.J.R. 3.

    Ms. Garrett spoke in favor of the bill.

     MOTION: Sen. Jones moved to pass 1st Sub. S.J.R. 3 out of committee with a favorable

recommendation.

    The motion passed unanimously.

    MOTION: Sen. Christensen moved to adjourn.

    The motion passed unanimously.

    The meeting adjourned at 3:43 p.m.
