JOINT RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE SUNDANCE
INSTITUTE AND THE SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL

Representative Carl Wimmer proposes the following amendments:
1. Page 1, Lines 16 through 19 :
16 State for the Sundance Film Festival;
17 . recognizes the 27th Anniversary of the Sundance Film Festival in the state of Utah;
urges the Sundance Film Festival to showcase more family friendly films;
18 . recognizes the Sundance Institute and the Sundance Film Festival for the
19 tremendous economic impact that they have on the state of Utah; and
2. Page 3, Line 71 :
71 film makers visited Utah;

WHEREAS, over the years there has been a significant increase in the graphic violence, sexual immorality, and pornography portrayed in the films selected for screening at the Sundance Film Festival causing many Utah families to choose not to attend:
4. Page 3, Lines 83 through 87 :
83 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature of the state of Utah recognizes the
84 Sundance Institute and the Sundance Film Festival for adding value to the state's commitment
85 to tourism.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature of the state of Utah urges the Sundance
Film Festival to showcase more family friendly films so that a greater number of Utah families will
desire to attend the festival.
86 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be sent to the Sundance
87 Institute.
