Rep. Ray called the meeting to order at 2:12 p.m.

MOTION:    Rep. Watkins moved to approve the minutes of February 1, 2012. The motion passed unanimously.

H.B. 98    Continuous Eligibility for Medicaid (Rep. D. Sanpei)

Rep. Sanpei presented the bill to the committee.

Spoke to the bill:    Ms. Kim Wirthlin, University of Utah Health Care

MOTION:    Rep. Cosgrove moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously.

S.B. 123    Pharmacy Practice Act Amendments (Sen. P. Knudson) (Rep. M. Newbold)

Sen. Knudson presented the bill to the committee..

MOTION:    Rep. Watkins moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously.




H.B. 109    Use of Controlled Substances in Research (Rep. D. Sanpei)

Rep. Sanpei presented the bill to the committee.

MOTION:    Rep. Sanpei moved to amend the bill as follows:

1.    Page 8, Line 215 :    

             215          (i) the person
{   to whom   }        who writes       the prescription is      {   issued is   } licensed under Subsection (2); and


2.    Page 10, Lines 305 through 306 :    

             305      research may produce, possess,
{   or   } administer,      {   but may not   } prescribe        ,       or dispense      {   ,   } a controlled

             306      substance
  for research purposes as licensed under Subsection (2) but may not otherwise prescribe or dispense a controlled substance       listed in Section 58-37-4.2 .


The motion passed unanimously.

MOTION:    Rep. Cosgrove moved to pass the bill out favorably as amended. The motion passed unanimously.

MOTION:    Rep. Watkins moved to place H.B. 109 on the Consent Calendar. The motion passed unanimously.

MOTION:    Rep. Watkins moved to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously.
