1st Sub. H.B. 81    City or Town Option Sales and Use Tax Amendments (Rep. B. Dee) (Sen. C. Bramble)

Sen. Bramble introduced and explained the bill.

Spoke against the bill:    Royce VanTassell, Vice     President, Utah Taxpayers Association

MOTION:    Sen. Bramble moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed, with Sen. Stephenson voting in opposition and Sen. Valentine absent for the vote.

Sen. Stephenson relinquished the chair to Sen. Bramble.

H.B. 68    Powersport Vehicle Franchise Act Amendments (Rep. D. Sagers) (Sen. C. Bramble)

MOTION:    Sen. McAdams moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously, with Sen. Valentine absent for the vote.

H.B. 323    Sales and Use Tax Collection Amendments (Rep. D. Butterfield) (Sen. L. Hillyard)

Rep. Butterfield introduced and explained the bill.

MOTION:    Sen. Stephenson moved to replace H.B. 323 with 1st Sub. H.B. 323. The motion passed unanimously.

MOTION:    Sen. Valentine moved to amend the bill as follows:


1. Page 10, Lines 290 through 292

             290          (b) (i) [A] To the extent an amount remitted in accordance with Subsection (3)(d)
{   or (e)   }

             291      later becomes bad debt, a seller may deduct the bad debt from the total amount from which a
             292      tax under this chapter is calculated on a return.


The motion passed unanimously.

MOTION:    Sen. Valentine moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously.

MOTION:    With the bill sponsor's consent, Sen. McAdams moved to place H.B. 495 on the Consent Calendar. The motion passed unanimously.

MOTION:    Sen. Valentine moved to amend 1st Sub. H.B.75. After a brief discussion, the motion was withdrawn with the understanding that the amendment would be addressed on the Senate floor.

MOTION:    Sen. Valentine moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously.
