8 General Description:
9 This bill amends the Physical Therapy Practice Act by modifying the expiration date
10 that applies to a temporary license as a physical therapist assistant.
11 Highlighted Provisions:
12 This bill:
13 . modifies the expiration date that applies to a temporary license as a physical
14 therapist assistant, which the Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing
15 may grant by rule.

24 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
25 Section 1. Section 58-24b-303 is amended to read:
26 58-24b-303. Term of license -- Renewal -- Temporary license for physical
27 therapist assistant.
28 (1) A license issued under this chapter shall be issued in accordance with a two-year
29 renewal cycle established by rule. The division may, by rule, extend or shorten a license
30 renewal process by one year in order to stagger the renewal cycles that the division administers.
31 (2) At the time of license renewal, the licensee shall provide satisfactory evidence that
32 the licensee completed continuing education competency requirements, established by the
33 division, by rule.
34 (3) If a license renewal cycle is shortened or extended under Subsection (1), the
35 division shall increase or reduce the required continuing education competency requirements
36 accordingly.
37 (4) A license issued under this chapter expires on the expiration date indicated on the
38 license, unless the license is renewed under this section.
39 (5) Notwithstanding any other provision of this chapter, the division may, by rule, grant
40 a temporary license, that expires on July 1, [
41 individual who:
42 (a) was working as a physical therapist assistant in Utah before July 1, 2009; and
43 (b) complies with the requirements described in Subsections 58-24b-302 (2)(a), (b), (c),
44 (f), and (g).
