7 LONG TITLE
8 General Description:
9 This bill modifies a reporting requirement related to the administration of the Miners'
10 Hospital for Disabled Miners.
11 Highlighted Provisions:
12 This bill:
13 . requires the University of Utah to report to the Higher Education Appropriations
14 Subcommittee in addition to the Natural Resources, Agriculture, and Environmental
15 Quality Appropriations Subcommittee regarding care to disabled miners; and
16 . requires the University of Utah to submit more detailed information to certain
17 legislative committees related to the administration and expenses of providing care
18 to disabled miners.

27 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:

28 Section 1. Section 53B-17-201 is amended to read:
29 53B-17-201. Proceeds from federal land grants for a Miners' Hospital for
30 Disabled Miners -- Reporting requirements.
31 (1) There is appropriated to the University of Utah all funds, assets, and revenues
32 which have been, or will be, derived from the sale or other disposition of those lands conveyed
33 to the state of Utah by those federal grants for a Miners' Hospital for Disabled Miners
34 contained in Section 12 of the Enabling Act and in Chapter 280, Public Laws of the Seventieth
35 Congress, 2nd Session (Act of February 20, 1929) which funds, assets, and revenues now are,
36 or in the future will be, in the custody and control of the School and Institutional Trust Lands
37 Board of Trustees.
38 (2) The University of Utah shall report annually to the [Legislature's] Natural
39 Resources, Agriculture, and Environmental Quality Appropriations Subcommittee and the
40 Higher Education Appropriations Subcommittee the following information regarding the
41 [appropriation] administration and operation of the Miners' Hospital for Disabled Miners
42 described in Subsection (1):
43 [(a) an accounting of the use of the previous year's appropriation; and]
44 (a) for each of the five previous fiscal years:
45 (i) an income statement showing all revenue sources and expense categories;
46 (ii) total number of patients served; and
47 (iii) the types of service or care given to patients; and
48 (b) [a plan for] how the University of Utah [will use future appropriations] plans to
49 administer and operate the Miners' Hospital for Disabled Miners in the future.
