TRAFFIC REGULATIONS REGARDING BUSES

             7      LONG TITLE
             8      General Description:
             9          This bill modifies the Traffic Code by amending provisions relating to an operator of a
             10      vehicle yielding to a public transit vehicle in certain circumstances.
             11      Highlighted Provisions:
             12          This bill:
             13          .    requires the operator of a vehicle to yield the right-of-way to a public transit vehicle
             14      traveling in the same direction that has signaled and is reentering the traffic flow;
             15      and
             16          .    provides that the requirement to yield the right-of-way to a public transit vehicle
             17      does not relieve the driver of a public transit vehicle from the duty to drive with due
             18      regard for the safety of all persons using the roadway.

             27      Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:


             28          Section 1. Section 41-6a-908 is enacted to read:
             29          41-6a-908. Public transit vehicles -- Right-of-way.
             30          (1) The operator of a vehicle shall yield the right-of-way to a public transit vehicle
             31      traveling in the same direction that has signaled and is reentering the traffic flow.
             32          (2) Nothing in this section relieves the driver of a public transit vehicle from the duty
             33      to drive with due regard for the safety of all persons using the roadway.
