9 This bill declares a day to be remembered as the Vietnam Veterans Recognition Day.

21 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
22 Section 1. Section 63G-1-401 is amended to read:
23 63G-1-401. Commemorative periods.
24 (1) The following days shall be commemorated yearly:
25 (a) Bill of Rights Day, on December 15;
26 (b) Constitution Day, on September 17;
27 (c) Yellow Ribbon Day, on the third Monday in May, in honor of men and women who
28 are serving or have served in the U.S. armed forces around the world in defense of freedom;
29 (d) POW/MIA Recognition Day, on the third Friday in September;
30 (e) Indigenous People Day, the Monday immediately preceding Thanksgiving; [
31 (f) Utah State Flag Day, on March 9[
32 (g) Vietnam Veterans Recognition Day, on March 29.
33 (2) The Department of Veterans' and Military Affairs shall coordinate activities, special
34 programs, and promotional information to heighten public awareness and involvement relating
35 to Subsections (1)(c) and (d).
36 (3) The month of October shall be commemorated yearly as Italian-American Heritage
37 Month.
38 (4) The month of November shall be commemorated yearly as American Indian
39 Heritage Month.
40 (5) The month of April shall be commemorated yearly as Clean Out the Medicine
41 Cabinet Month to recognize the urgent need to make Utah homes and neighborhoods safe from
42 prescription medication abuse and poisonings by the proper home storage and disposal of
43 prescription and over-the-counter medications, and to educate citizens about the permanent
44 medication disposal sites in Utah listed on useonlyasdirected.org that allow disposal throughout
45 the year.
46 (6) The first full week of May shall be commemorated yearly as State Water Week to
47 recognize the importance of water conservation, quality, and supply in the state.
48 (7) The second Friday and Saturday in August shall be commemorated yearly as Utah
49 Fallen Heroes Days to:
50 (a) honor fallen heroes who, during service in the military or public safety, have
51 sacrificed their lives to protect the country and the citizens of the state; and
52 (b) encourage political subdivisions to acknowledge and honor fallen heroes.
53 Section 2. Effective date.
54 If approved by two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, this bill takes effect
55 upon approval by the governor, or the day following the constitutional time limit of Utah
56 Constitution Article VII, Section 8, without the governor's signature, or in the case of a veto,
57 the date of veto override.
