7 LONG TITLE
8 General Description:
9 This bill modifies the Motor Vehicle Safety Belt Usage Act by amending provisions
10 relating to safety belt compliance for civil litigation.
11 Highlighted Provisions:
12 This bill:
13 . repeals the provision that provides that the failure to use a child restraint device or
14 to wear a safety belt does not constitute contributory or comparative negligence on
15 the part of a person seeking recovery for injuries; and
16 . repeals the prohibition against introducing the failure to use a child restraint device
17 or to wear a safety belt as evidence in any civil litigation on the issue of negligence,
18 injuries, or the mitigation of damages.
