9 LONG TITLE
10 General Description:
11 This joint resolution of the Legislature grants approval for the construction and
12 operation of a commercial nonhazardous solid waste disposal facility to receive
13 nonhazardous solid waste at a new location.
14 Highlighted Provisions:
15 This resolution:
16 . addresses the proposed Stericycle Medical Waste Commercial Nonhazardous Solid
17 Waste Disposal Facility, owned by Stericycle, Inc., to be constructed at a new
18 location, in unincorporated Tooele County; and
19 . grants statutorily required legislative approval of the facility, subject to the approval
20 process in Utah Code Section 19-6-108 , to construct and operate a commercial
21 nonhazardous solid waste disposal facility and receive nonhazardous medical waste
22 and other nonhazardous solid waste as approved by the Department of
23 Environmental Quality.

27 Be it resolved by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
28 WHEREAS, Stericycle, Inc. desires to construct and operate a commercial
29 nonhazardous solid waste disposal facility to receive nonhazardous medical waste and other
30 nonhazardous solid waste as approved by the Department of Environmental Quality;
31 WHEREAS, the facility is to be located on an approximately 40-acre parcel in
32 unincorporated Tooele County, Utah, within or near Section 3 of Township 1 North, Range 8
33 West, Salt Lake Base and Meridian, located approximately 45 miles west of Salt Lake City;
34 and
35 WHEREAS, an applicant for authority to construct a commercial nonhazardous solid
36 waste disposal facility shall receive approval in accordance with Utah Code Section 19-6-108 :
37 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of the state of Utah
38 grants approval to Stericycle, Inc. to construct and operate a commercial nonhazardous solid
39 waste disposal facility at a new location, in unincorporated Tooele County, Utah, but only
40 subject to, and in compliance with, the approval process outlined in Utah Code Section
41 19-6-108 .
