Madam Speaker:

    The Economic Development and Workforce Services Committee reports a favorable recommendation on H.B. 90, WOMEN IN THE ECONOMY COMMISSION, by Representative J. Seelig, with the following amendments:

1.    Page 3, Line 68 :    

             68          (vi) one individual with managerial experience with

{   labor unions   }        organized labor       .


2.    Page 3, Lines 69 through 81 :    

             69          (3)
{   (a) A member appointed under Subsection (2)(f) shall serve for a four-year term.

             70          (b) Notwithstanding the term requirements of Subsection (3)(a), the governor may
             71      adjust the length of the commission members' terms to ensure that the terms are staggered so
             72      that approximately one-half of the members are appointed under Subsection (2)(f) each year.  
}

             73          
{   (c)   }        (a)       When a vacancy occurs in a position appointed by the governor under Subsection

             74      (2)(f), the governor shall appoint a person to fill the vacancy
{   for the unexpired term of the

             75      commission member being replaced  
}

             76          
{   (d)   }        (b)       Members appointed under Subsection (2)(f) may be removed by the governor for

             77      cause.
             78          
{   (e)   }        (c)       A member appointed under Subsection (2)(f) shall be removed

from the


             79      commission and replaced by the governor if the member is absent for three consecutive
             80      meetings of the commission without being excused by the chair of the commission.
             81          
{   (f)   }        (d)       A member serves until the member's successor is appointed and qualified.


3.    Page 3, Lines 86 through 88 :    

             86          (5) (a) The commission shall select two members to serve as cochairs
{   :   }        , one of which shall be a legislator.      

             87          
{   (i) one cochair shall be from the public sector; and

             88          (ii) one cochair shall be from the private sector.  
}


4.    Page 4, Lines 99 through 104 :    

             99          (7)
  (a)       A member        of the commission described in Subsection (2)(e) or (f)       may not receive compensation or benefits for the member's service, but

             100      may receive per diem and travel expenses in accordance with:
             101          
{   (a)   }        (i)       Section 63A-3-106 ;

{   (b)   }        (ii)       Section 63A-3-107 ; and

             103          
{   (c)   }        (iii)       rules made by the Division of Finance pursuant to Sections 63A-3-106 and

             104      63A-3-107 .
  (b) Compensation and expenses of a member who is a legislator are governed by Section 36-2-2 and Legislative Joint Rules, Title 5, Legislative Compensation and Expenses.
