         MASSAGE THERAPY PRACTICE ACT AMENDMENTS

Representative Brian M. Greene proposes the following amendments:

1.    Page 1, Lines 9 through 23 :    

             9          This bill modifies Title 58, Chapter 47b, Massage Therapy Practice Act, by exempting
             10      certain
{   persons   }        individuals       from licensure under the act.

             11      Highlighted Provisions:
             12          This bill:
             13          .    exempts
{   a person   }        an individual       from licensure as a massage therapist if the      {   person   }        individual       is engaged

             14      within the scope of practice of a profession with established standards and ethics
             15      and
{   :

             16              .      
}
limits the manipulation of the soft tissues of the body to the hands, feet, and ears
             17      only, including the practice of reflexology and foot zone therapy;
  and      

             18              
{   .    uses touch, words, and directed movement to deepen awareness of existing

             19      patterns of movement in the body, including the practice of the Feldenkrais
             20      method, the Trager approach, and body-mind centering; or
             21              .    touch is limited to that which is essential for palpation and affectation of the
             22      human energy system; and

             23          .    makes technical changes.

             63          (l) [persons]

             73          (2) This chapter may not be construed to authorize any individual licensed under this
