Chair Ipson called the meeting to order at 2:05 p.m.

 

MOTION:     Rep. Daw moved to approve the minutes of the February 4, 2015 meeting. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Eliason, Rep. Ray, and Rep. Redd absent for the vote.

 

H.C.R. 1         Concurrent Resolution Designating Start by Believing Day (Rep. A. Romero)


Rep. Romero explained the bill to the committee with the assistance of Chief Lee Russo, West Valley City Chief of Police. A handout "HCR 1 Concurrent Resolution Designating Start By Believing Day" was distributed to the committee.

 

Spoke for the bill:       Susan Chasson, nurse practitioner, Intermountain Healthcare

MOTION:     Rep. Romero moved to pass H.C.R. 1 out with a favorable recommendation. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Ray and Rep. Redd absent for the vote.

 

H.B. 195         Traffic Code Repealer (Rep. L. Perry)


Rep. Perry explained the bill to the committee.

MOTION:     Rep. Daw moved to pass H.B. 195 out with a favorable recommendation. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Redd absent for the vote.

 

H.B. 79           Safety Belt Law Amendments (Rep. L. Perry)


Rep. Perry explained the bill to the committee with the assistance of Carlos Braceros, Executive Director, Utah Department of Transportation. Two handouts "Zero, The Only Acceptable Number" and "Buckle Up for Everyone" were distributed to the committee.

MOTION:     Rep. Ray moved to replace H.B. 79 with 1st Substitute H.B. 79. The motion passed unanimously.

 

MOTION:     Rep. Ray moved to pass 1st Substitute H.B. 79 out with a favorable recommendation. The motion passed with Rep. Daw and Rep. Peterson voting in opposition.

Chair Ipson reconvened the meeting at 3:25 p.m.

 

H.B. 131         Tobacco Shop Amendments (Rep. K. Powell)


Rep. Powell explained the bill to the committee.

 

MOTION:     Rep. Daw moved to replace H.B. 131 with 1st Substitute H.B. 131. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Eliason and Rep. Ray absent for the vote.

 

MOTION:     Rep. Peterson moved to pass 1st Substitute H.B. 131 out with a favorable recommendation. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Ray absent for the vote.

 

 

MOTION:     Rep. Eliason moved to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Ray absent for the vote.
