8 General Description:
9 This bill clarifies the scope of the Utah Public Officers' and Employees' Ethics Act.
10 Highlighted Provisions:
11 This bill:
12 ▸ clarifies that the Utah Public Officers' and Employees' Ethics Act does not apply to
13 a conflict of interest that exists solely due to the fact that one individual holds more
14 than one government position.

23 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
24 Section 1. Section 67-16-11 is amended to read:
25 67-16-11. Applicability of provisions.
26 (1) As used in this section, "government position" means the position of a legislator,
27 public officer, or public employee.
28 (2) The provisions of this chapter:
29 (a) apply to all public officers and public employees[
30 (b) do not apply to a conflict of interest that exists between two or more government
31 positions held by the same individual, unless the conflict of interest is also due to a personal
32 interest of the individual that is not shared by the general public.
