7     LONG TITLE
8     General Description:
9          This bill amends a definition in the Judicial Code related to child protective orders.
10     Highlighted Provisions:
11          This bill:
12          ▸     amends the definition of "abuse" as it relates to child protective orders.

19          78B-7-201, as renumbered and amended by Laws of Utah 2008, Chapter 3

21     Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:
22          Section 1. Section 78B-7-201 is amended to read:
23          78B-7-201. Definitions.
24          As used in this chapter:
25          (1) (a) "Abuse" [means physical abuse or sexual abuse] means the same as that term is

26     defined in Section 78A-6-105.
27          (b) Notwithstanding Subsection (1)(a), "threatened harm of a child" does not apply to a
28     court's determination of whether a child is in imminent danger of being abused, as described in
29     Subsection 78B-7-203(5).
30          (2) "Court" means the district court or juvenile court.
31          (3) All other terms [have the same meaning as] mean the same as those terms are
32     defined in Section 78A-6-105.
