Chair Christensen called the meeting to order at 2:19 p.m.


Vice Chair Nelson assumed the Chair at 2:20 p.m.


Rep. Snow moved to approve the minutes from January 28, 2016. The motion passed unanimously

with Rep. Oda absent for the vote.


1st Sub. H.B. 79       Nonpatient Cause of Action (K. McIff)


Rep. McIff explained the bill to the committee. He was assisted by Rep. Kennedy, Physicians Representative, Steven Hester, Medical Malpractice Attorney, Alan Mortensen, Utah Association for Justice, and Mark Brinton, Utah Medical Association.


Spoke for the bill:       David Davis, Utah Retail Merchants Association

 

MOTION:     Rep. Snow moved to adopt 1st Sub. H.B. 79. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Hall and Rep. Oda absent for the vote.

 

MOTION:      Rep. Cox moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed with Rep. King and Rep. Wheatley voting against. Rep. Snow was absent for the vote.
