Chair Jenkins called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m.

MOTION: Sen. Christensen moved to approve the minutes of the February 4, 2014 meeting. The motion passed unanimously with Sen.Dabakis, Hinkins, and Vickers absent for the vote.

H.C.R. 2      Concurrent Resolution Designating Identify Your Pet Day (A. Romero)

Rep. Romero explained the bill to the committee:

Spoke for the bill:       Jennifer Heines, 17 year old citizen for a Girl Scout Award

MOTION: Sen. Christensen moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed unanimously with Sens. Dabakis and Hinkins absent for the vote.

H.B. 57        Animal Shelter Amendments (A. Romero)

Rep. Romero explained the bill to the committee.

Spoke for the bill:       Drew Allen, Legislative Committee Chair, Utah Veterinary Medical Association

                                    Pam Rasmussen, Vice President, Animal Control South Jordan

                                    Russ Wall, Public Works Director, Salt Lake County

Spoke to the bill:        Adam Trupp, Utah Association of Counties

MOTION:     Sen. Knudson moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed with Sen. Christensen voting in opposition and Sen. Vickers absent for the vote.

MOTION:  Sen. Christensen moved to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Vickers absent for the vote.

Chair Jenkins adjourned the meeting at 4:25 p.m.
