Chair Madsen called the meeting to order at 4:18 p.m.


MOTION: Sen. Madsen moved to approve the minutes of the February 7, 2014 meeting. The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Hillyard, Sen. Robles, Sen. Thatcher, and Sen. Urquhart absent for the vote.

 

H.B. 20        Emergency Vehicle Operator Duty of Care Revisions (Rep. Dee)

 

Rep. Dee explained the bill to the committee.

 

Spoke to the bill:                    Reed Stringham, Assistant Utah Attorney General

                                             Ken Wallentine, Chairman, Utah Law Enforcement Legislative

                                                Committee

                     David Wilson, Chief Civil Deputy, Weber County Attorney’s Office

 

Spoke for the bill:                   Tom Ross, Chief of Police, Bountiful City

                                                Reed Richards, Deputy County Attorney, Weber County

 

 

Spoke against the bill:            James McConkie, Attorney

                                                Richard Lambert, Retired Prosecutor

                                                Alex Evans, Attorney

 

MOTION: Sen.Urquart moved to pass the bill out favorably. The motion passed with Sen. Madsen and Sen. Robles voting in opposition.

 

 

MOTION:  Sen. Weiler moved to adjourn. The motion passed unanimously.

 

Chair Madsen adjourned the meeting at 6:12 p.m.
