Chair Bramble called the meeting to order at 8:05 a.m.

 

MOTION:  Sen. Weiler moved to approve the minutes of the February 12, 2014 meeting.  The motion passed unanimously with Sen. Davis, Sen. Hinkins and Sen. Valentine  absent for the vote.    

 

Sen. Henderson assumed the Committee Chair.

 

S.B.  54        Elections Amendments  (C. Bramble)

 

Sen. Bramble moved to amend the bill as follows:

 

1.                  Page 2, Lines 45 through 46: 


             45        Other Special Clauses:

             46          {None}    This bill takes effect on January 1, 2015.   


 

2.         Page 27, Lines 805 through 806:


       805                           (e)  establishes, at 65% or higher, the minimum percentage of votes that a candidate

       806            must receive at the party   {caucus}    convention   in order to avoid a primary.


 

3.         Page 47, Line 1436:


                          1436      political party, political party, or other political group.

              

                      Section 17. Effective date.

                This bill takes effect on January 1, 2015

S.B.  56        Risk Management Amendments   (C. Bramble)

 

Sen. Bramble explained the bill to the committee.

MOTION:  Sen. Valentine moved to pass the bill out as amended favorably.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

Sen. Bramble resumed the Committee Chair.

 

S.B. 87     Contractor Employee Amendments  (K. Mayne)

 

Sen. Mayne explained the bill to the committee and a handout was distributed.

 

MOTION:   Sen. Davis moved to pass the bill out favorably.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

S.B.  143      State Building Code Amendments (T. Weiler)

 

MOTION:  Sen. Bramble moved to adopt 1st Sub. S.B. 143.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

Sen. Weiler explained the bill to the committee.
